Episode 5 Show Notes

Posted by on Feb 8, 2012

Blues Hour on the River Front - Tarzan's Treehouse, Disneyland

Our first foolish mortal–err, guest host–joins us for the fifth episode as we discuss High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography with Gregg Cooper. Gregg is a member of the Disneyland Photography Mafia, so we’re glad he joined us via the phone instead of in studio. We’ve heard he’s busted a knee or two with a tripod in his day…

Take a look at Gregg’s amazing Disneyland photos on Flickr.

We discuss a few different types of software during the show, including Photomatix Pro and Adobe Photoshop Extended CS5 Student and Teacher Edition.

All in all, it was a great episode with one of the masters of Disney HDR photography. What did you think of the episode?

  1. My episode favorite so far, I really like the in-depth technical details. I like the Disney-centric discussion too, this one had lots of both. I’d like to continue getting the low level technical details. I would assume that most of the audience are dabbling with Photomatix and the like tools, so I wouldn’t stray away from getting technical. If someone gets lost, Tom can just explain everything in the show notes :)

  2. This was great! I’m a total beginner, but the technical details were not so over-the-top that I couldn’t follow. I learned a lot and can’t wait to dabble in some HDR photography. The best part was listening to the podcast while simultaneously watching a slideshow of Gregg’s Flickr HDR Disney photos!

  3. Best show to date. Gregg’s methodical and detail explanations were excellent. I hope you have him back on soon.

  4. Great episode (as usual!). I was using Photomatix 3 (hadn’t realized 4 had come out) and was happy to discover that I could upgrade for free! I’m commenting in case anyone else is still using the older version.

  5. I was looking for show notes on episode 6, but since that’s not been posted yet, I’ll post this here. About the One More Disney Day 24-hour promotion, you guys who are going should check out The Photographer’s Ephemeris. They have apps for android & iPhone and it tells you the direction and altitude of the sun and moon at any time of day. They also have a free desktop program you can use. Figure it might help plan out those sunrise shots at Disneyland.
